So, I'm back from the meeting of the American Astronomical Society
in San Diego. A very brief report:
- not very many people at the meeting
- not many big stories
- two press members wandered past the TASS poster and chatted with
me a bit, but no one picked up on the story as far as I know.
- a copy of the press release can be found at
http://a188-l009.rit.edu/tass/meetings/aas_1998/release3.html
- not that many astronomers showed interest, either
- the Near Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) group will soon be putting
their archival data on the WWW for public access; look for
a site called "SkyMorph" sometime soon (it doesn't seem to
exist yet, or I haven't found it)
I took notes of a discussion on Optical Transients which occurred
on Sunday, June 7. You can find the notes at

It was nice for me to meet Chris Albertson and Arne Henden, after I'd
been exchanging so much E-mail with them for the past year or two.
We went out to dinner with some other TASSians and had many enjoyable
discussions.
The weather was cloudy and chill.
