How Do I Setup Windows
Sorry if you get this twice, the previous attempt had Help in the subject
line and I think Majordomo though I was asking it for help.
For several days now, my main data taking computer has been making a loud
click click noise. Being prudent, I have gone out and bought a new (small)
hard drive.
I have determined that the noise is coming from the C drive. Now the c
drive has nothing of value on it except Windows, which is sort of necessary.
How do I switch out the drive? I have put in the new drive and it is
detected (I think), and have put in the Windows boot disk. The bios
detects the CD drive as a slave and the new drive as the master as it
should on that IDE bus.
I can get to the point where it says put Win 95 in CD and enter
x:setup. Where x is the letter for the CD drive. It has not assigned a
letter yet for the CD drive, so I don't know what to enter. Letters
through j don't work.
Any advice would be helpful. There may be a better way to make a drive
change out?
I have another brand x CD drive that I could put in for the HP one.
What I am really asking is how do you cold start Win 95? I have never
tried to do this before. Sigh! I don't really want to learn.
At last I have asked a question where I can get lots of help. ;^)
