Water Cooling
You all must think that nothing ever happens here but disaster. Lots of
things wofk. It is just that it is no fun to report something that works.
Whenever someone would propose water cooling at Fermilab, I would
practically have a fist fight with them. U of Chicago people modified my
air cooled design for water cooling and lived to regret it. Of course they
would never admit it. But my air cooled power supplies just worked, and
they were always calling in water consultants.
Tonight we were watching Wall Street Week, and I was attempting to take the
big step focus run for Andrew. We heard a drip, drip, drip. By the time
we got up to the tower the whole gallon jug of anti-freeze mix was
somewhere in the walls of my house above the bedroom. Sigh! The pump had
burned out yesterday, and a new plase was found for the tubing to come
loose. No doubt it was disturbed while Dan changed the pump.
All this to warn you all about water cooling. I am gradually learning to
double tye wrap everything. When you all get your systems, you will have
to worry about this. It is not as easy as it looks. I would air cool if I
thought I could get away with it. But it just won't work for this design.
