Lens Day

Today is Lens Day. I have all the lenses spread out in the basement and I
am fixing them. Since I now have the proper spacers I can make the final
assembly.

The oven is going to disassemble the last couple of image cells that need
to be changed.

OK, the factory in China did not blacken the lens edges. The spec said to,
but they did not. Sigh! Is it worth taking the lenses apart to blacken
the edges? I can blacken 1 and 2 but probably not 3 as it is glued in a
cell.

On the positive side, the edge blacening will cut down reflections. On the
minus side, I will no doubt end up dirtier than before.

So, experts, what should I do. You have had some time to observe how I
work. Still, if they are dirty and you are an expert you can easily take
them apart and clean them.

I may delay this operation anyway as I do not have a proper spanner wrench
to remove the end retaining ring. Any suggestions as to where to get one.
I need to span 4 1/2 inches. Pretty fine blade.

I plan to only do a few at this time. Then put a couple in ARNE and see
how they perform.
