Linux Help
I now have Linux loaded and running. I think. After trying many
combinations of disk partitioning, I finally gave up on saving my Windows
installation.
It serves o'll Bill right if Linux won't run with Windows. OK, I know it
can be done, but it is probably not worth the effort.
Would a few of you volunteer to teach me Linux?
I just need to ask questions from time to time. If I get more than one
volunteer, I will spread the questions around so no one has to bear all the
stupidity. I have a lot of Linux books. So don't recommend one. They all
seem to be 2" thick. It must be some rule that you keep writing until it
is that thick.
I have Red Had 6.2 installed in the server mode. I tried to load it in
terminal mode but it hung at about 500 MB of programs loaded. Obviously
the automatic partitioning (grab and erase all disks) did not set up enough
space for the code it was trying to load. It just got that far and hung.
I studied the Red Hat book carefully. No where does it tell you how to log
on. I had to guess. So I typed "root" and my password, and that seemed to
work. Sigh! I also have me as a user but have not figured out how to get
at that yet.
