The Bottom of the Barrel
I am slowly running out of things to fix. Sigh! It has been a long
year. I guess the big fix was the lenses. Two different spacers had to be
made, and a lens turned around. There were lots of little electronic
fixes. A capacitor here and there etc.. I still have to burn some new
proms to give Arne the dark pixel format he wants. But this can be
postponed until I have ARNE running.
Today I fixed the problem that prevented operation with long cables between
the camera and the memory board in the computer. I am now (barely) running
with a 100' standard DB shielded cable of the kind that I can buy in any
computer store. Previously I could only stand a 10' cable of this type. A
big improvement since this cable needs to be shielded for lightning
protection. It was just a question of putting a scope probe on the right
signal and looking with the right trigger.
This seems to be almost the last thing in my "fixit" barrel.
Meanwhile the builders are here and have completed the room for the
dome. Tuesday is the likely day for lifting the dome to the top of the
house. I will take pictures.
