globular cluster picture

Mike mentioned that this image is probably not typical
of the fields that we need to process with the Mark IV,
and he is correct. The image was specifically taken as
a 'pretty picture'. Only about 10 percent of the fields
will be in the Milky Way, though that will be bad enough!
I'm running ARNE tonight while I'm observing with the
1.0-m. I'm not taking any great care in setting it up
right now. Tom's software is entirely adequate for
engineering, but not for an all-sky survey. I've made a
couple of modifications so that we can take multiple
images of a single field, and I'm calibrating the Dec and
RA drives so that I can point to a known place. But
the major observing is going to wait until Chris gets
his driver finished and I can get accurate shutter timing.
There are new ice crystals tonight. We ran the system
in some *very* wet conditions, dew everywhere, so it will
take a few cycles to get rid of the crystals. This next
week I'll get the shop to make some decent lens shade/dewcaps,
as well as getting the signal cables routed properly.
