One way to get images out of the real time computer in a
secure way would be to run a web server on it. Just point
your browser at the image directory.
In fact adding a CGI interface to you real-time controller would
be kind of cool too. Easy to do too given a working socket
interface. If you use HTTPS and password protected web pages
it would be pretty secure too.
The other trick is to link the CDL library into the server.
then you could use DS9, SAOimage or ximtool as a remote display.
This will work with the SSL tunnel too. You can get CDL from
the IRAF web site and it is not hard to use. My real-time controller
has a programable "to do list" that it performs for each image
that is saved. One thing that can be added to the list is to
write the image out using CDL to a display. Other possable actions
are 1) save to FITS file. 2) save to GIF or JPG file in possably
reduced size. I may see if I can add this to your controller
Where is the currect version?
