GPS was not changed post 9-11.  I work for the FAA, and we are very dependent
on GPS - between aircraft navigation, and the fact that all our equipment time
sources are now GPS.

I just went outside with my old 8-channel Garmin Gps-38, and I got a
three-satellite fix in 1 minute 35 seconds, five sats about a minute later,
and a couple more within a few minutes.

post the up-to-the-minute status reports and satellite outage notices:
