Re: GSC 00279 00321 paper
I would be happy to have Michael do this one solo. If I am an author, then
I would want to take the time to really understand everything about the
paper. I don't have the time to do this right now. I am starting to
accumulate variable star books and in a year or two I might be in a
position to collaborate on projects like this.
OK, Arne, I am on a bunch of physics papers on things like rho physics
where I have no idea about the material of the paper. In these cases, I
made substantial contributions to the design of the experiment. I felt
that I was contributing ideas that made the experiment possible. I had no
problem with being a part of a team where some members wrote the papers and
some designed and built the apparatus and made it go. To be more
specific, in the case of other papers, I was on teams where I got to know
the members over the years and grew to respect them. For Michael, I just
don't know him well enough yet to trust him to present something that I
want my name on. This is in no way a negative comment about Michael. What
I have read so far, I like. I have done everything I can to encourage him.
I would be quite content with a reference to the tass site in Batavia IL
(optional - operated by Tom Droege ) as a source for the data that
triggered further study.
When giving e-mail addresses, we might consider always using the tass
site. I think I am droege@tass-survey.org. I will test this right now and
let the group know. Ron Wickersham can set up anyone to have a tass
address that just forwards to whatever your address is at the moment.
