There are certainly recent examples of IBVS publications that
are not much different than Michael K.'s; see 5277.
Like I've said before, there is an implied 'minimum publishable unit',
and the IBVS editors must feel in this case that the minimum
amount has not been met. You can fight it, either by addressing
the concerns of the editor or by providing additional data and
analysis. Or, you can go another route. The TN approach is
ok, but as mentioned before, submitting a JAAVSO or IAPPP paper
is also an alternative. Both of these groups have published papers
with less information than this in the past.
Oh the other hand, Katalin's comment about removal of bad data
points is quite disturbing. That point would be easy to defend.
