Very interesting information from our Japanese colleagues and I must
agree that the IBVS editorial board seems to be applying judgement very
unevenly. Perhaps the growth in variable star discoveries is straining
their resources, mainly human? Since I was a co-author on this rejected
paper, this may be a good way for me to establish a dialogue with Dr.
Olah about the purpose of the IBVS and future directions. Maybe they
just need more help. Or maybe the problem needs to be dealt with in an
entirely different manner. The Internet does provide capabilities that
I think have not been fully realized by the current journals.
