Re: New Computer

Well it was just a question of knowing that I wanted to pick "linux
enterpris" from the start up menu. I read all their books and did not
find anything that told me that is what I wanted to pick.

Linux is like moving to a big city. If you want to go shopping for
something, you need to have a guide to tell you where to look. There are
stores in Manhattan and stores in Brooklyn and either place might be best
depending on the shopping you want to do.

If you want to buy a camera there is an area or for a computer you might go
to a different area. In Philadelphia there was once a wonderful street
for electronic parts (I recall it was Archer St.). That was the place you
wanted to go if you needed an 807. Now they have destroyed the area to put
in a mall to display the Liberty Bell and other historical stuff. I miss
the computer street.

There is a guide book for Linux, but it is the size of the NY public
library. It is not indexed in any way that makes sense unless you know
what is in the book and just want to verify a detail. If you are anewbe
from out of town, better get a guide person.

After you have lived there for 10 years and know all the lore, it is hard
to remember what a newbie needs.
