Once the database gets big enough, you may need to change the
timeout period for the webserver from the default 300 seconds to a much
larger value.

My config file is in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd2.conf and I have changed

Timeout 300

to

Timeout 3600

and restarted apache with

/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart
