Chris, I am not sure what you mean by image scale. The CCD itself is
pretty linear. It is physics. There is some pixel to pixel variation,
but that too is pretty small. This is what the flat field tries to
remove. When you look at flat fields the pixel to pixel variation is hard
to see. You can see cosmetics of the system. Spots and such. Either
caused by dirt on the CCD, window, or (more likely) variation in
sensitivity. Then there are the optics. The way the optical design was
done, there is a circle tangent to close to the edges where the light
collection is the greatest. It then dips in the middle a few percent, and
in the very tips of the corners about 10%.
