Yep, I too think it is a pity.  I have seen many nice variables disappear
from the data base while the I value was still quite large.  This because
the V component has dropped below mag 15 or so.

But that is the way the pipeline is written.  It would be nice to have
another pipeline that recovered these measurements.  But we have a very
nice pipeline and it works.  I figure that I can only do what I can, and
modifiny the pipeline is not one of those things.
