Introducing the new Linux Mk III driver now with "Zombie_B_Gone"! Do your process slots fill will with the undead child processes of the t3-server? If so, you need the revolutionary new driver now with "Zombie_B_Gone". Seriously, the driver creates one new process for each FITS file it closes. If not done correctly these processes after they terminate become so-called "zombie" processes. They consume no RAM or CPU cycles but hang around in the system process table. They do little harm but will monopolize some system status displays. I finally figured out how to fix the problem. For details see the file "zombie_b_gone.c" New software is in http://table.jps.net/~chrisja/TASS_Software/TASS_Driver_12SEP98.tgz As I said, the problem is not serious, no need to get this if you have something that works.
