TASS disk sets 17 and 18 - calibrations

This page presents and describes graphs of calibrations. As mentioned in the introductory page, the calibration was made for each image pair separately by fitting raw V and I magnitudes to the TYCHO magnitudes. The coefficients were later used to transform all raw magnitudes of the paired stars to the Johnson V magnitudes. Next graphs 12 graphs present calibration points for each night. Although all measurments belonging to the same night are joined together it should be emphasized again that the transformation was made for each image separately. Three more graphs give us idea how to easily distinguish bad nights and data from good ones.

Data from disks 18a anf 18f have distinctly larger scatter. This is due to cloudy sky. To present how bad data can be detected, a graph showing estimated background of individual stars as a function of image x coordinate. Data is shown for two bad nights (disks 18a 18f) and for one good night (disk 18i). Note different data ranges!
